Making Sense of Scripture"

The Faith Travelers adult class will launch "Making Sense of Scripture," based on a book by the same title by David Lose.  David J. Lose holds the Marbury E. Anderson Chair in Biblical Preaching at Luther Seminary, St. Paul, Minnesota, where he also served as the Academic Dean.  He is the author of Confessing Jesus Christ: Preaching in a Postmodern World.
Here's a course preview:  This 4 week study begins on November 1st.  It is "a thoroughly engaging, often humorous, and frequently incisive exploration of what the Bible has to offer everyday people in today's complicated world.  The set-up for the book is as enjoyable as it is unique, allowing its reader an opportunity to have no-holds-barred conversation about the meaning and significance of Scripture."

Sundays, November 1- February 7 – "Making Sense of Scripture: Big Questions about the Book of Faith"
Study Books are available.  A donation of $10.00 for the Study Book is not required.

Women's Book Group

All women are invited to be a part of a study of the book, With Christ in the School of Prayer by Andrew Murray.  From the book's preface:  "With Christ in the School of Prayer" is a practical guide to learning how to pray.  Murray uses Luke's account, in which the disciples ask Jesus, 'Lord, teach us to pray,' as his foundation, and moves on to explore (in thirty-one lessons) everything Jesus teaches about prayer, inviting the reader into a rich life of intimacy with God."

We will meet monthly beginning on Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 7 PM at Cyndi Skillings' home.  Call Cyndi for more information 303-450-0967.
