| Sunday morning is a time of excitement and celebration. |
| The Traditional Service will be familiar to Lutherans from all over the US. We use liturgy from
the Lutheran Book of Worship. Liturgy simply means that we follow a standard order of services in which the pastor and congregations sing or speak the liturgy
back and forth or together. We find that, as we participate actively, by engaging various parts of a worship service, we encounter our gracious God who is at work
for us. |
| Congregational singing hymns has always been a hallmark of Lutheran worship. The best of musical traditions,
both ancient and modern, are embraced by the Lutheran church in its worship, with an emphasis on congregational singing, reinforced by the choir. |

Our pastor wears special clothing called vestments. These garments cover the individuality of the man and emphasize the sacred duties of the
office he has been given to carry out.
Throughout the course of the church year, an appointed order of readings and prayers helps the congregation focus on the major events in the
life of Christ and how those events affect us today. |
|
| We stand at various points in the service to express reverence and devotion to the almighty Triune God.
Pastor makes the sign of the cross over the people, and some of those in the congregation may sign themselves with the cross at various times as well. (this practice is optional) |
| When attending service, you can expect to hear an inspiring sermon from the Word of God. Sermons are
geared to bring the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and preparing us to live in the real world. Scripture is a valuable tool in direction, correction, and encouragement.
|
| During the service, we pray for every need presented, whether it be salvation, healing, financial problems, or whatever
is requested. Even if a specific time is not offered for prayer during a service, we encourage you to ask one of the pastors after service if you would like prayer. |
|
| We offer Communion on the first and third Sundays of the month. We practice an open Communion, meaning you do not have
to be a member of St. Stephen's to participate. The only qualification is that you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. |
