Faith In Action

"People were bringing even infants to [Jesus] that he might touch them; and when the disciples saw it, they sternly ordered them not to do it. But Jesus called for them and said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.Truly I tell you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will never enter it.'” Luke 18:15-17 NRSV

As school districts remain uncertain about the format our children's education, we are certain that not every child has access to the supplies they will need to have a successful year.

We are happy to partner with Lutheran Family Services Rocky Mountain and their 2020 School Supply Drive to provide backpacks filled with supplies for foster and refugee families. This year we have committed to providing eight backpacks: 2 Pre-k - 2nd Grade, 2 3rd-5th Grade, 2 Middle School, 2 High School.

Please use this goggle doc to "sign up" for specific items in a backpack, or sponsor an entire backpack. Just type your name next to the items you plan on providing. While there are "gendered" backpacks, please be mindful that a more gender neutral item may be preferred. The items need to be delivered to the church building by July 27th, please arrange a time to drop off with either Pastor Mandy (pastor@sslu.org) or Sara (office@sslu.org).

A special thank you to Roberta Boitano for arranging this opportunity and providing eight beautiful backpacks to be packed!
